LAHORE: The 138th birthday of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was celebrated on Wednesday with enthusiasm, devotion and reverence, and with a commitment to transform Pakistan into a progressive and prosperous state as dreamed by the Quaid.
Special tributes were paid to him by the nation.
The national flag was hoisted on governmental buildings around the provincial capital. Special prayers were offered for the integrity, solidarity and prosperity of Pakistan as well as for the soul of the founder of the country.
Cultural, social and literary organisations as well as political parties held special ceremonies in various parts of the city to celebrate the Quaid’s birthday and different aspects of his life were discussed on the occasions. Special homage was also paid to him for his contributions and struggle for achieving an independent homeland for the Muslims of the subcontinent.
Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) held ceremonies at their respective party houses to celebrate the Quaid’s birthday and speakers on the occasions paid glorious tributes to the founder of Pakistan.
They also highlighted his ideas and achievements that led to the emergence of a separate homeland for the Muslims of the subcontinent.
Nazaria Pakistan Trust (NPT) in collaboration with Pakistan Movement Workers Trust also organised a function. The function was held at Aiwan-e-Tehreek-e-Pakistan, which highlighted the Quaid’s guiding principles of unity, faith and discipline.
Besides seminars, symposiums and exhibition were organised in various parts of the city.
On this occasion, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif congratulated the nation and said, “By Quaid’s true and wise leadership, the nation achieved an independent state 66 years ago, but unfortunately the mission of the Quaid was yet to be achieved.”
He said that in order to transform the country into an Islamic welfare state as dreamed by the Quaid, the country needed a righteous and exemplary leader like Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
He pledged to bring corruption, poverty, load shedding, unemployment and deteriorating situation of law and order to an end and build a strong and peaceful Pakistan as envisioned by Jinnah.
